Part of Section 1201 directs the US Copyright Office to engage in a rulemaking every three years to grant exemptions to the prohibitions on circumventing TPMs to allow noninfringing uses of copyrighted works. Panelists will discuss the history of the eight triennial rulemakings that have occurred so far, including trends in exemptions being granted and how the process itself has evolved. Section 1201 is not without criticism, and panelists will also discuss legal challenges to the law and the rulemaking process, focusing on Green v. DOJ, which resulted in a recent DC Circuit decision rejecting a First Amendment challenge. Finally, panelists will discuss the “right to repair” movement and its intersection with copyright law generally and Section 1201 specifically. It was a social and architectural landmark that set the pace for Newport’s subsequent transformation from a quiet summer colony of wooden houses to the legendary resort of opulent Gilded Age mansions. They have four steel wheels, hydraulic disc brakes, pedals for each seat, and are comfortable, fun and easy to ride. Although the rail explorers require pedaling, the magic of steel wheels on steel rails makes the experience very different from riding a bicycle. There is no need to steer and riding is hands free – making it easy to take photographs as you roll along. Rail explorers are available in double or quad (4) seats. Shuttle service to/from provided. In all industries copyright is increasingly exploited on an international basis but the laws that apply in major international markets often differ from the US in significant ways, creating implications for cross-border transactions and disputes.
