#9 – Emerald Necklace

Cleveland is nicknamed the “Emerald Necklace” due to its impressive system of interconnected parks known as the Cleveland Metroparks. Spanning over 23,000 acres, the Metroparks offer outdoor enthusiasts’ opportunities for hiking, biking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing within a short drive of downtown Cleveland.

#5 – Live Music Scene

Cleveland features a diverse live music scene with venues ranging from intimate clubs to large concert halls. Whether you’re into rock, jazz, blues, hip-hop, or indie music, you’ll find plenty of options to enjoy live performances by local artists or touring acts. Venues like the Beachland Ballroom, the Grog Shop, and the House of Blues regularly host concerts spanning a wide range of genres.

#4 – West Side Market

A bonus for the foodies in our group–Cleveland has one of the oldest indoor/outdoor market spaces in the country. Founded in 1840, the West Side Market features over 100 vendors selling fresh produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, and much more.

#2 – Playhouse Square

Playhouse Square (Cleveland’s Theatre District) is the second largest performing arts center in the United States—only New York City’s Lincoln Center is larger. Originally built in the 1920s, Playhouse Square is full of historic buildings featuring vintage glitz and glam, and boasts a vibrant performing arts scene with shows, concerts, and more!

#1 – Sports Fever

League Park and the Baseball Heritage Museum are a testament to Cleveland’s profound sporting legacy. The field witnessed iconic moments like Babe Ruth’s 500th career home run in 1929 and served as the home field for African American baseball team the Cleveland Buckeyes from 1942 to 1950.

The city also hosted the first three Temple Cup series games, and saw the debut of Alta Weiss, a pioneering female minor league baseball pitcher. Cleveland’s rich tapestry of sports history and contemporary entertainment for sports enthusiasts, including fans of the Cleveland Browns (NFL), Cleveland Guardians (MLB), and Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA), solidify its status as an American sports hub.
