About

Guy Rub is the Vincent J. Marella Professor of Law at Temple University Beasley School of Law. He is an expert at the intersection of intellectual property law, commercial law, the arts, and economic theory. His scholarship explores a range of issues within these fields, including post-sale control of copyrighted works, the copyright–contracts interface, the legal challenges facing libraries, and the role of the Supreme Court in the development of copyright law. He is a former chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the American Association of Law Schools.

Prior to joining the faculty at Temple University, Professor Rub held an endowed professorship at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. During his time there, he was twice elected chair of the university’s IP Committee, which, under his leadership, rewrote its IP policy for the first time in 30 years. Before entering academia, Professor Rub was an associate at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP in Los Angeles. He also worked as a software programmer and engineer prior to pursuing a career in law.
