Associate Professor in Intellectual Property Law at University College Dublin, Sutherland School of Law
Dr. Bernd Justin Jütte joined the Sutherland School of Law as an Assistant Professor in Intellectual Property Law in August 2020. His research focuses on digital aspects of copyright law, with a particular focus on copyright exceptions, transformative uses and user rights.
Justin obtained his LLB from the University of Greifswald (Germany) and his Master en Droit Européen from the University of Luxembourg, where he also completed his PhD with a thesis on European copyright reform in 2016, which was published as a monograph in 2017 under the title “Reconstructing European Copyright Law for the Digital Single Market – Between Old Paradigms and Digital Challenges” with Nomos, Hart, Bloomsbury.
At UCD Justin teaches modules on Copyright Law and European Law and directs the MSc in International Law & Business. He also teaches Intellectual Property Law and Internet Litigation at the University of Luxembourg and Internet Law and Intellectual Property Law at Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania) where he is also an affiliated Senior Researcher.
He welcomes proposals for PhD research project in intellectual property law and copyright law in particular.
