A Glitch in the Radio Matrix: The Current
State of Digital Radio

Digital radio has
become a vital source of music for an increasing number of listeners. The
explosion of digital radio platforms such as Pandora and Spotify, designed to
fill the musical needs of a wide range of niche audiences by providing
customized playlists to fit every mood, has raised new questions about the
traditional role of radio in the music industry. Our panel will discuss the
recent developments in digital radio, the inherent challenges (including the
debate over royalty rates and the FiMLA), and the legal and business effects on
the music industry. This event is co-sponsored by St. John’s University School
of Law’s Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Society and is geared towards new
lawyers and law students.
