ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

A recent U.S Supreme Court decision resolved a long-standing split among the circuit courts of appeal as to when a lawsuit can be filed for copyright infringement. In Fourth Estate Public Benefit Corp. v. Wall-Street.com, the Supreme Court unanimously held that a copyright claimant’s application must have received final action from the U.S. Copyright Office prior to bringing a copyright infringement lawsuit. The decision will have an immediate impact on rights holders and practitioners. A panel of experts will address the Supreme Court’s Fourth Estate decision, and its practical implications from the perspective of in-house and outside counsel, as well as the view from inside the U.S Copyright Office. The panel will also address best practices and steps rights holders and their practitioners should consider in this post-Fourth Estate world.

Content creators, in-house counsel and outside counsel, across all fields and industries, who are responsible for securing protection in and enforcing rights in copyrightable works are welcome to attend.  Program satisfies 1 PA CLE credit.
