The Art of Protest & Activism February 22, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm « Copyright on the Blockchain Unmasking the Mysteries of the Statute of Limitations and a Short Course on Navigating through a Daubert Challenge in Copyright » Art has long been a source of social and political commentary. As much as it entertains and appeases the senses, art often takes on the even more noble task of documenting history, amplifying the voices and experiences of marginalized communities, and expressing particular views about society. As “the engine of free expression” copyright plays an important role in not only encouraging this kind of expression, but also in protecting it. This panel will explore the views of both copyright practitioners and artists on the state of copyright law as it relates to spontaneous protest art, and the use of unlicensed music in political campaigns and messaging. Speakers: Amir Diop Artist Loren Mulraine Director, Music & Entertainment Law Studies, Belmont University / Counsel, Bone McAllester Norton PLLC Megan Noh Co-Chair, Art Law Group, Pryor Cashman Terrica Carrington (Moderator) VP, Legal Policy and Copyright Counsel, Copyright Alliance Add to calendar Google Calendar iCalendar Outlook 365 Outlook Live Details Date: February 22, 2021 Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Event Category: National Event Event Tags:2021, Midwinter Meeting, MW21 This event has passed
