Overview of the Music Modernization Act

This program will examine the Music Modernization Act (“MMA”), which is perhaps the most significant overhaul of U.S. Copyright Law in decades. Topics of discussion will include a general overview of the MMA, historical perspective on why changes to music copyright law were desired, how the MMA was negotiated, and future impacts of the MMA.

Christopher Harrison was one of the chief negotiators and architects of the MMA. He is an experienced digital media executive and has served as CEO of the Digital Media Association (DiMa), in-house counsel for Sirius XM and Pandora, and as a lecturer at the University of Texas and the University of California at Berkeley.
