Latest Developments in Copyright Termination Law

When: February 11, 2022 at 2:00pm - 3:00pm EST - This event has passed

Join us for an advanced discussion of the latest developments in U.S. copyright termination law. A slew of recent cases are calling for a re-examination of core copyright principles in the context of copyright termination such as: What constitutes a grant “covering the right of publication”?  Can sound recordings released as part of an album qualify as a “contribution to a collective work” and therefore be eligible as a specifically commissioned work for hire?  What constitutes a new derivative work for purposes of the Derivative Works Exception?  Is an assignment of the right to receive royalties subject to termination?

Our panel of experts will discuss the issues raised by these cases and what to watch for in 2022 and beyond.
