Speakers:

BRIAN PYNE is
the Director of Legal Affairs and Enforcement for the Entertainment Software
Rating Board, where his duties include investigating enforcement matters,
negotiating agreements, maintaining a trademark portfolio and assisting in
policy development. Prior to joining the ESRB, Brian was Associate
Counsel to Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., the parent company of Rockstar
Games and 2K Games, where he negotiated agreements, reviewed game assets and
advised on a variety of issues pertaining to game development and publishing.
Brian graduated from New York Law School where he was a Student Research
Fellow at the Institute for Information Law & Policy and Technology Editor
of the Media Law & Policy journal. While at NYLS, Brian also conducted
research and prepared legal memoranda for publisher DC Comics, in-game
transaction provider Live Gamer, and boutique intellectual property law firm
Drakeford & Kane.

MONICA CORTON is
Vice President of Creative Affairs and Licensing
at Next Decade Entertainment, Inc. Her responsibilities include all creative
exploitation of Next Decade’s works as well as licensing works published and
administered by the company. Next
Decade’s publishing clients include, among many others, Harry Belafonte, the
Estate of E.Y. “Yip” Harburg (“April in Paris”, “Brother, Can You Spare a
Dime?”, “It’s Only a Paper Moon”, “Old Devil Moon”), Lucy and Carly Simon, and
Vic Mizzy (“Addams Family Theme” and “Green Acres Theme). Monica serves as a music supervisor for Next
Decade’s various film, television and Broadway projects, has served as Music
Supervisor for numerous motion pictures and Broadway shows including the movie The Odd Couple II starring Walter
Matthau and Jack Lemmon and the Broadway play One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s
Nest starring Gary Sinise, and has extensive experience licensing music for
videogames, mobile apps and other audiovisual works. Ms. Corton is a Magna Cum Laude
graduate of the Hartt School of Music, University
of Hartford and holds a
Bachelor of Music in flute performance and music education. Ms. Corton has studied flute with John Wion
and Bert Lucarelli and has given classical and jazz concerts and master classes
throughout the East coast.

EMILIO B. NICOLAS is
an attorney with the Austin office of Jackson Walker L.L.P. His practice
includes intellectual property and general commercial litigation, entertainment
and media transactions, and intellectual property rights management. Emilio received his B.S. in Business Administration
from Trinity University, his M.S. in Media Management from Syracuse University,
and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Syracuse University College of
Law. He currently serves as a council member on the State Bar of Texas
Entertainment and Sports Law Section, and as an advisory board member for Texas
Accountants & Lawyers for the Arts. He has been named a “Rising Star”
by Thomson Reuters in the field of entertainment and sports law.

Moderator:

STACY ALLEN is
a litigation and intellectual property partner in Jackson Walker LLP’s Austin,
Texas office. His national practice emphasizes intellectual property litigation
(on behalf of both alleged infringers and IP owners), defense of media
companies and news organizations against defamation and privacy tort claims,
defense of managed care companies in claims arising from complex provider
contracts, and other commercial lawsuits and arbitrations alleging breach of
contract, unfair trade practices, fraud, and other business torts. His cases often involve claims in the tens of
millions of dollars or more and include class actions and federal MDL
proceedings. Mr. Allen serves as chairman of the board of directors of the
American Red Cross of Central Texas. He received his A.B., summa cum laude,
from the University of Southern California and his J.D. from Yale Law School
and is admitted to practice in Texas, California, Connecticut, and New York.
