ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

SPEAKERS:

Kirby Drake | Kirby Drake Law PLLC

Since 2002, Kirby Drake has focused on helping clients successfully navigate their intellectual property (IP) challenges. She enjoys being an advisor to clients when they need assistance in identifying, protecting, and leveraging their IP. Kirby is a registered patent attorney and founder of Kirby Drake Law PLLC in Dallas, Texas. IP protection can be complicated, and she helps clients be more comfortable and understand what they can protect and how best to protect their inventions, brands, and other works.  Kirby is also committed to IP education and advocacy through her work with the State Bar of Texas where she has served as Chair of the IP Section as well as through serving on the patent advisory committee for the Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts (TALA).

Serene Ateek | Jackson Walker

Serene Ateek is an associate in both Jackson Walker’s Corporate & Securities group and Entertainment, Digital & Sports group. Her practice focuses on assisting clients in an array of corporate transactions, including merger and acquisitions, startup counseling, private offerings, and general corporate governance matters. Regardless of the subject matter, Serene zealously negotiates commercial contracts and works hard to educate and empower her clients so they understand the protections and risks that live within each contract before they sign. Serene has helped fashion designers update their international retailer policies, social media influencers navigate the Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides, and publishing companies comply with automatic renewal laws across multiple states. She believes knowledge is power and wants her clients to have the knowledge it takes to best protect themselves.
