Extraterritoriality and the EU AI Act (Part 2) When: February 27, 2025 at 12:00pm - 1:00pm EST Please join moderators Olena Ripnick-O’Farrell (Grammarly) and Heather Whitney (OpenAI) for an exciting panel discussion with Ben Allgrove (IP, Data & Tech Partner & Chief Innovation Officer, Baker McKenzie), Bill Patry (Copyright & Fair Use Expert & Partner, Quinn Emanuel), and Barry Scannell (Technology Partner, William Fry) about the global impact of the EU AI Act’s copyright provisions on developers and rightsholders alike! Among other pressing topics, we’ll be considering whether these provisions constitute an extraterritorial application of copyright law; how the EU AIA might impact developers relying on the fair use defense; how these provisions could impact rightsholders within and outside the EU; and how the Act’s requirements relating to copyright intersect with existing EU copyright law.
