Thursday, March 28, 2013 6 p.m. Suffolk University Law School 120 Tremont Street, Room 295 Boston, MA 02108 Reception to follow As the creative world struggles to find new sources of revenue to offset declining sales, several enterprises have turned to copyright litigation as a revenue model and deterrent method – known popularly as “copyright trolling.” But what are the consequences to copyright when litigation is brought solely as a revenue stream? Are such litigation tactics ethical? This presentation reviews some recent examples of such lawsuits, and explores their greater consequences. The Speakers: Andy Sellars is a staff attorney at the Digital Media Law Project and the Corydon B. Dunham First Amendment Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. He received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. Jason Sweet is a partner in the Cambridge law firm Booth Sweet, LLP, providing counsel on issues related to the increasingly complex laws governing entertainment, the Internet, copyright and trademark.
