Copyright Law in Canada: What You Need to Know

Lunch ‘n’ Learn hosted by CSUSA’s Southeast Chapter

Since 2012, the Canadian Copyright Act has been amended three separate times and the Supreme Court of Canada has issued no fewer than nine hugely consequential decisions on copyright law. Even as lawyers and judges continue to come to grip with those developments, the Canadian government is engaged in a review of cultural policy that is all but certain to result in more changes to the law – and that’s before the government’s mandatory five-year review of the Copyright Act begins later this year.

Fasten your seat belt as Casey Chisick, a Certified Specialist in Copyright Law at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP in Toronto, helps us navigate the surprisingly bumpy terrain of Canadian copyright law.

Pizza will be provided, but attendees are also welcome to bring their own lunches.
