SPEAKERS:

Ava Farshidi is Assistant General Counsel at David Yurman, a luxury jewelry company based in New York City. Her work ranges across different practices including general corporate matters, commercial contracts, real estate, employment, and compliance. Prior to her role at David Yurman she served as Assistant General Counsel at Rebecca Minkoff, a contemporary fashion company at the cusp of the merge between retail and technology. Her work ranged across different practices including intellectual property and advertising to navigating privacy issues and emerging data collection concerns. She has several publications on emerging issues in the fashion law industry, and her article Evaluating the FTC Guidelines Through the Career of  Fashion Blogger will be published by Harvard Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law in the spring. Ava is also the author of The New Retail Experience and Its Unaddressed Privacy Concerns: How RFID and Mobile Location Analytics are Collecting Customer Information and China’s Role in Well-Known Marks Protection: It’s Now or Never…or Dilution. Ava is involved with numerous organizations and committees including the New York City Bar’s Fashion Law Committee and the Susan G. Komen’s Young Professionals Committee. She has spoken at numerous conferences on issues in the fashion industry and was the recipient of the Luxury Law Rising Star Award in London in 2017. 

Lena Saltos is Associate General Counsel, Global Director of Intellectual Property at Urban Outfitters, Inc., parent company to retailers Urban Outfitters, the Anthropologie Group, Free People and the Vetri Family restaurants, where she is responsible for managing all intellectual property, internet and social media matters across all brands.  She is involved with a number of legal organizations, including the New York City Bar’s Art Law and Fashion Law Committees, as well as serving as co-chair of the Copyright Society of the USA’s Special Events Committee.   Lèna is also involved in a number of arts-related non-profits, including the International Studio and Curatorial Program, a Brooklyn-based international residency program; the American Friends of the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum, a 501(c)(3) supporting an Athenian museum preserving the legacy of the jeweler Ilias Lalaounis; and Ensemble Signal, a contemporary classical music ensemble which performs the music of Steve Reich and other composers internationally. .
