Xuyang Zhu is a Senior Counsel at Taylor Wessing LLP based in London.  Her practice encompasses both contentious and non-contentious copyright matters across a wide range of media industries.  She advises on content acquisition, licensing and distribution, the application of copyright law to novel means of digital content exploitation, and copyright infringement disputes and litigation, including involving intermediary liability.  Her clients include rightsholders such as collecting societies, print and music publishers, authors’ estates, gaming companies and brands, and digital services providers including social media and video sharing services, audio and video streaming services, app stores, content aggregators and merchant platforms.  Much of her work entails multi-jurisdictional elements.  Xuyang has undertaken in-house secondments at a global social media and video sharing platform, and at a global app store and smart TV service provider.  Prior to joining Taylor Wessing Xuyang trained and qualified at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.  She holds an M.A. in Law from the University of Cambridge, LL.M. from Harvard Law School and a Postgraduate Diploma in UK, EU and US Copyright Law from Kings College London.  Xuyang is a frequent speaker at events held by the UK Music Publishers Association (MPA), including a regular “Copyright and Related Rights” lecture.  She is ranked as a Rising Star by Managing IP and by The Legal 500 as a Key Lawyer in “Intellectual Property: Trade Marks, Copyright and Design” and “Media and Entertainment”.
