Suzana Carlos is the Head of Music Policy for YouTube, spearheading legislative strategy and negotiation across all music initiatives. Her work focuses on advancing policy to serve the interest of our users and business while protecting YouTube’s ability to innovate responsibly. Suzana regularly engages with global policymakers to build relationships and trust, helping to shape regulation and showcase YouTube’s contributions to society and the broader music ecosystem.

From 2018 to 2022, Suzana worked as Senior Counsel on YouTube’s Global Music Publishing team. Prior to joining YouTube, she held senior attorney positions across the music industry, including at the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Universal Music Group and EMI Music Publishing. Suzana is originally from California but has converted to a full-time New Yorker, living in Brooklyn with her husband and seven year old daughter. While she does not have any musical talent of her own, Suzana loves live music and spends much of her free time at concerts.

Suzana is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and Fordham University School of Law. She is a Board Member of the Digital Media Association (DiMA) (the leading digital music services organization in the US).
