Regina Thomas serves as associate general counsel and global head of copyright, trademark, and media law for Yahoo, a global media and tech company with offerings from finance and commerce to gaming, news, advertising, and search. Regina advises and trains all Yahoo properties on intellectual property and media law matters and provides newsroom support to Yahoo News, TechCrunch, and Engadget journalists. Regina joined (then) AOL in 2004 from private practice at Morgan Lewis in DC, where she focused on trademark and copyright advising, prosecution, and licensing, and she worked as trademark paralegal before law school at two IP boutique firms. Regina earned her J.D. at Georgetown Law. She frequently lectures on digital media topics, has taught at Georgetown Law and George Washington Law, and serves on the board of directors and as treasurer for the Media Law Resource Center (MLRC), a nonprofit dedicated to speech and press freedoms. Regina has also served on the MLRC trademark and copyright law committee and as a director and division chair for the ABA Forum on Communications Law.
