Michael Moore Associate General Counsel - Intellectual Property and Global Content Protection Amazon Michael Moore is Associate General Counsel and Director of Amazon in its IP Ops Legal Group. Michael leads the team that provides IP Legal support for Amazon’s media companies including Amazon MGM Studios, Prime Video, Amazon Music, Wondery, Twitch, Amazon Photos and Amazon Games. In this capacity, Michael oversees all IP matters for these businesses including registration, clearance, enforcement, asset transfers, asset acquisitions, litigation/legal claims, research, analysis and overall counsel related to the production and distribution of entertainment content. Michael also leads Amazon’s Content Protection Group which provides global anti-piracy support for all Amazon original content, licensed content and live sports. Michael represents Amazon as a founder and at the Governing Board level of ACE, the Alliance for Creativity and Protection, an entertainment industry anti-piracy coalition made up of over 50 content producers and distributors. While at Amazon, Michael also was a founder and board member of Glamazon LA, an affinity group created to provide support to Amazon’s LGBTQ+ employees. Michael is an active participant in the Amazon mentorship program and is committed to providing pro bono legal services to many organizations in Los Angeles, Washington State and D.C. Prior to joining Amazon, Michael was Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel of MGM Studios where he led the IP Legal and Content Protection teams for over 18 years. In this capacity, Michael oversaw the protection of one of the world’s largest film and television libraries as well as an impressive portfolio of trademarks including such iconic trademarks as the MGM Lion Logo, United Artists, Orion Pictures, Pink Panther, Rocky Balboa, 007 and James Bond to name just a few. Michael is a frequent speaker and moderator at IP conferences (including INTA, the Los Angeles Copyright Society, Interpol/Europol Online Crime Conferences, the Copyright Society), and has spoken twice as Amazon’s representative at White House roundtables focused on asset protection. Michael’s entire legal career (over 28 years) has been spent protecting IP assets, creating new legal and technological solutions to ameliorate copyright and trademark infringements, and managing effective teams who provide the highest level of IP legal support to their businesses.
