Margot Patterson

Margot Patterson is Counsel with Dentons Canada’s Intellectual Property, Communications Law, Competition Law, and Media, Entertainment and Sports practice groups, with a practice focused on media, brands and intellectual property.  She advises leading businesses in entertainment, media, and e-commerce on growing, promoting and protecting their businesses, in Canada and across borders. She has worked with broadcasters and content distributors for twenty-five years, helping them navigate Canadian rules and standards and work successfully with their partners, to ensure regulatory compliance and the successful launch of services in Canada.  Designated by the Law Society of Ontario as a Certified Specialist in Copyright, Margot is formally recognized as a leader in this field. She regularly advises clients on licenses for copyright-protected content, and frequently acts as an expert advisor to international organizations on the Canadian copyright system.  Before joining Dentons, Margot was General Counsel and Vice-President, Legal Affairs for the Canadian Association of Broadcasters.
