Lexi Todd Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs Primary Wave Music Lexi Todd is an in-house attorney and Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs at Primary Wave Music. Lexi is an integral part of the acquisitions team, helping to solidify Primary Wave’s place at the frontline of music acquisitions involving iconic and legendary acts, and she also supports Primary Wave’s music publishing, recorded music, artist management, film & TV, and marketing and branding divisions. After joining the company 9 years ago as a legal intern, she quickly rose through the ranks to her current position as Vice President, where she oversees valuation, due diligence, negotiations, and closings on high-profile deals, including for the catalogs of the Notorious B.I.G., Sarah McLachlan, Luther Vandross, and Bing Crosby. In recent years, Primary Wave has expanded its international presence, with local partnerships announced in India with Times Music and in Brazil with Nas Nuvens. Lexi has also worked on a number of complex cross-border catalog acquisitions, including the acquisition of French assets as part of The Village People catalog and Hong Kong assets as part of the acquisition of the catalog of label and publisher Wow Music. Lexi is a member of the Recording Academy, the Copyright Society, the advisory board to the Brooklyn Law School Entertainment and Sports Law Blog, and Primary Wave’s internal DEI Task Force. Lexi was named an executive honoree in Billboard Music’s 2025 “Women In Music” awards, was featured in Variety Magazine’s 2022 “Hollywood’s New Leaders” list, Billboard Magazine’s 2021 “40 Under 40, List of Trailblazing Young Music Executives,” and numerous industry conferences and educational panels, including for Mondo, SXSW, Music Forward, Save the Music, Carnegie Hall and Harvard Law School. Lexi is also a lifelong singer, songwriter, performer, and producer (artist projects include her band “Chevy Lopez” and her solo project “Lexi Todd”), and that balance between artistry and industry provides her with a unique set of intellectual and emotional tools that she uses to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the music industry with both respect for creators and passion for progress. Lexi graduated from Brooklyn Law School, cum laude, and is admitted to the New York State Bar. Prior to law school, she earned her B.A. degree in Political Science from Monmouth University, magna cum laude, with minors in Philosophy and Spanish.
