Frank Scibilia co-chairs Pryor Cashman’s Copyright Practice Group. Frank has a deep knowledge of copyright law as it applies to the music industry. He was involved in several seminal cases that established the boundaries of liability for the use of copyrighted content on the Internet, including Napster, MP3.com, Limewire, MP3tunes and Grooveshark. He played a lead role in the Phonorecords III proceedings to determine rates for the compulsory license for interactive streaming. He conducts copyright due diligence of catalogs of musical works and recordings, and negotiates and drafts licenses to use such works on a myriad of platforms. Frank has been named one of the leading copyright lawyers in the country by The Legal 500, a top attorney in copyright by Best Lawyers in America, a “Top Music Lawyer” by Billboard Magazine, and a Music “Trailblazer” by New York Law Journal, and has been recognized in Variety’s Legal Impact Report.
