Eleanor M. Lackman is Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property practice group at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, where she offers full-service work in copyright, trademark, and media matters out of the firm’s New York and Los Angeles offices. For over 20 years, Eleanor has litigated cases from inception through trial in courts across the country, while counseling a diverse array of copyright and brand owners from creation of their IP through protection, licensing, and beyond. Her work includes leading trials and appeals, handling over 100 cases at the TTAB, and overseeing the prosecution and maintenance of thousands of trademarks worldwide. Clients have called on her to write amicus briefs in some of the most important cases in the country at the intersection of copyright, technology, and licensing, including in Authors Guild v. HathiTrust; Cambridge University Press v. Becker; and The Andy Warhol Foundation v. Goldsmith.

Eleanor’s dedication to her clients’ success has resulted in recognitions from industry trades such as Variety and Billboard and elite legal reviews including Managing IP, World Trademark Review, and Chambers Global and USA, which has recognized her 10 years running and in “Band 1” multiple years in a row for her practicality, creativity, and client service. Among other organizational roles, Eleanor is a past officer, past committee and chapter chair, and past trustee (two terms) of the Copyright Society. She received her JD from Fordham University in 2003 and an MBA with a certificate in entertainment management from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management in 2023.
