Daniel Cooper President, Copyright Society Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property, NBCUniversal Dan Cooper is Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property, for NBCUniversal. Based in Universal City, California, he oversees a team of lawyers and analysts that advise and collaborate with NBCUniversal’s entertainment divisions worldwide (across live action & animated film & television, theme park, and merchandising) on production, distribution and ancillary rights issues, with a focus on copyright matters that arise throughout the entire lifecycle of IP. Prior to NBCUniversal, Dan’s in-house/entertainment experience also included working at Paramount Pictures as SVP, Intellectual Property and as VP, Business & Legal Affairs at Fox Interactive Media/Myspace. Before making the transition in-house, Dan worked as an IP litigator at the Los Angeles office of Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp and Arnold & Porter. He is a graduate of Columbia University for both college and law school. Dan is a former Trustee of the Copyright Society and has served as Co-Chair of the Membership and Website Redesign Committees.
