Abbas Kassam

Abbas Kassam is an experienced Intellectual Property lawyer in Fasken’s Toronto office. His practice primarily focuses on litigating intellectual property and public law disputes.

Abbas has accumulated a broad spectrum of litigation experience, encompassing mandates in both federal and provincial jurisdictions. He has acted as lead counsel in Federal Court litigation in various industry sectors including oil and gas and consumer products. He has also acted as counsel on trials assessing damages arising from pharmaceutical patent disputes. Abbas’ inventive and streamlined approach to addressing critical litigation and commercial requirements is trusted by clients in an array of industries.

Abbas previously served as a judicial law clerk to the Honourable Justice Russel Zinn of the Federal Court. A strong proponent of the right to hold opinions and to seek, receive, and share information and ideas, he is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Free Expression at Toronto Metropolitan University.
