Partner

Finnegan / AI Progress

Anna, leader of Finnegan’s copyright practice, leverages significant experience in tackling cutting-edge copyright issues. She represents a broad spectrum of clients in copyright litigation, licensing, and enforcement matters. Anna also engages in strategic policy and related regulatory work concerning copyright and copyright-adjacent issues.

Much of Anna’s practice focuses on novel issues surrounding AI and copyright. She advises clients regarding copyrightability of AI-generated content, training data rights and licensing, fair use considerations, ownership and authorship, and open-source compliance.

Prior to rejoining Finnegan as a partner, Anna served as associate general counsel at the U.S. Copyright Office. While there, she helped implement the Music Modernization Act (MMA) — the most sweeping reform to copyright law in decades — by issuing regulations regarding the newly-formed mechanical licensing collective charged with administering the blanket license for musical works. She also advised on litigation strategy to inform the U.S. government’s views regarding novel questions of copyright law pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
