Corey Field

Corey Field practices entertainment, media, copyright and trademark law at his Los Angeles based boutique firm Corey Field Law Group, P.C. His clients include leading creative organizations and individuals worldwide in film, television, publishing, live theatre, and music, including copyright expertise in areas such as copyright termination, recordation, registration, and statutory licensing. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles on copyright and entertainment law, including the treatise Entertainment Law Forms and Analysis (Law Journal Press), and the best-selling leading practice guide and law school textbook Entertainment Law Fundamentals and Practice published by Cognella Press, is a former Adjunct Professor at USC Gould School of Law, and is a public speaker on copyright and entertainment law topics for legal and industry groups nationwide. Corey served as the President of The Copyright Society from 2010 to 2012 and is an Honorary Trustee.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Corey was an executive in the international music publishing industry and with that unique background, music continues to be a significant part of his overall legal practice including music publishing and recording companies, composers, librettists, agencies, publicists, and stage directors. Among his entertainment industry and intellectual property clients are the Sundance Film Festival, Wise Music Group, MGM Resorts International, Ferrero-Rocher, The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Minnesota Opera, The Chautauqua Institution, The Colburn School, The Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Minnesota Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, film and concert composer Michael Abels, concert soloists including Alison Balsom, Lara Downes, Eric Lu, Fatma Said, Postmodern Jukebox, and the estates of distinguished authors including David Goodis, James Thurber, and Mother Teresa. Corey’s clients have been awarded Grammy Awards®, Emmy Awards®, the Pulitzer Prize, and have received Oscar® nominations.

On behalf of his clients Corey has successfully negotiated agreements with major film studios including Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Netflix, and Amazon, and leading record labels, publishers, and performing organizations including leading opera and ballet companies worldwide. Corey is a professionally trained concert composer with a Ph.D. in music and in recent years has resumed composing and recording his orchestral and chamber works.
