Nilton Simões Counsel Globo Television Nilton Simões is a Counsel at Globo Television, specializing in audiovisual, anti-piracy, copyright, and intellectual property. He is a key member of the legal team advising and leading TV Globo’s entertainment divisions worldwide, which encompass television, streaming, soap operas, live and talk shows, news, and sports. These divisions are broadcast in over 130 countries to more than 100 million people daily, making TV Globo the second-largest broadcaster in the world. Nilton holds a specialization in Contracts and Intellectual Property from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and is currently pursuing an LLM at Dayton University. Based in Rio de Janeiro, he is also a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association. As an energetic and self-motivated in-house counsel, Nilton handles corporate law, drafting and negotiating essential contracts for Globo’s operations. These include production and co-production agreements for over 50 films, soap operas, and series that support Globo’s storytelling. He has successfully negotiated international licensing agreements that expanded Globo’s reach to over 40 countries, facilitating content distribution via video streaming platforms, physical home video, electronic home video (EHV), transactional video-on-demand (TVOD), subscription video-on-demand (SVOD), ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD), and linear television.
